Fibroadenoma or Breast Lump Removal Surgery is a surgery done to remove a lump that may be breast cancer. Tissue around the lump is also removed. This surgery is called an excisional breast biopsy, or lumpectomy.
There are a few different kinds:
They look the same all over when you view them under a microscope.
These are bigger and tend to affect older women. They might have cells that grow rapidly.
These are the most common type of breast lump found in girls and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18.
They can grow to larger than 2 inches. They may need to be removed if they press on or replace other breast tissue.
A fibroadenoma is not usually painful or tender to the touch. Most people do not experience any symptoms other than the lump.
